Interested in trying out Primal Queen supplements? Read on for my in-depth review to find out if this product is worth the hype and if it truly delivers on its promises.
Just over a month ago, Primal Queen reached out to me to see if I’d like to give their supplement a try. Since I often receive requests to test out products, my first instinct was to ignore them. Many companies that contact me don’t even bother to check if their product fits my lifestyle. I was especially skeptical when I saw they were calling it a “superfood product”.
If you’ve been following me lately, you might know that my health issues could be related to consuming a lot of “superfoods”. At least that’s what I think. (Read my review of the Toxic Superfoods book by Sally K. Norton.)
After a bit of investigation, though, I realized that Primal Queen supplements are a bit different. They don’t use what is typically referred to as a superfood: things like kale, turmeric, ginger, ginseng, garlic, dark chocolate, beets, etc.
Instead, this supplement uses beef organs!
And not just any beef organs…
Scroll to the bottom of this post for my new update!
What is the Primal Queen Supplement?
Primal Queen supplements are made for women who want a natural boost to their health and energy. They are a beef organ supplement sourced from 100% grass-fed & pasture-raised Argentinian cattle.
I’m generally quite picky about what I would use, so I was happy that they promise to use only grass-fed, pasture-raised animals with no hormones, and no antibiotics. The product is gluten-free and non-GMO! They also lab-test their products.

What are the ingredients?
What makes this product interesting is that it is meant for women! That’s because it uses “female-focused” beef organs like beef uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries!
Over the years, we’ve been pushed to eat our veggies because they are “packed with essential vitamins and minerals”, but veggies may not be as nutritious or as essential as we were led to believe.
In fact, as Primal Queen points out (Keep in mind “These statements have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.”), beef organs are incredibly dense nutritionally:
- Beef liver has 4.2 times more vitamin A than lettuce.
- Beef heart has 14,000 times more CoQ10 than cauliflower.
- Beef kidney has 3.4 times more iron than kale.
- Beef Uterus has 100 times more Vitamin B12 than spinach (And without all the oxalates!)
- Beef Fallopian tubes have 11.25 times more zinc than broccoli.
- Beef Ovaries have 2.2 times more selenium that oats.
What do they claim to do?
They believe that beef organ superfoods from pasture-raised cattle are key to treating the root of modern-day symptoms. So many of us these days (me included) have found ourselves tired, with brain fog, and our hormones often feel off.
They have many testimonials already from women who were skeptical to try the product and found themselves surprised to have increased energy, better overall mood, more regular periods (with a more regular flow), and increased libido almost immediately.
Other possible benefits include: increased strength, improved liver function and liver blood flow, strengthened immunity, heart protection, improved fertility, enhanced eyesight, kidney health support, and balanced hormones that could, in turn, lessen cramps, hot flashes, and PMS symptoms, diminished uterine cysts, optimal menstruation, and improved skin health…
What pushed me to try them?
I don’t like taking medications or even most supplements. In fact, I think one of the main reasons I had to stop working on the blog for so long was that I overdosed myself on Vitamin C (and other?) supplements as part of my plan to build up my immunity to keep myself healthy throughout the “COVID years”.
Many of the natural-minded doctors were pushing high doses of vitamin C along with quercetin, zinc, NAC, etc. Back then, I had no idea yet that I was experiencing issues from my high oxalate diet. I had even less idea that high doses of vitamin C could be aggravating that problem.
Over the last year and a half, I’ve been slowly detoxing myself from years of oxalate overload. I’ve been following a mostly meat-based diet since September 28, 2022. At first, I felt amazing, until the oxalate dumping started at the end of October. Since then, I’ve been cycling through cycles of feeling good, feeling great, and then crashing as I go through oxalate dumping.
What’s missing in my diet?
One thing that I haven’t been good about is eating as “nose to tail” as I feel I should. While I happily eat all the fat and grizzly bits of my meat, I have tried to get myself to eat organs and just can’t bring myself to regularly do it.
I’ve tried eating liver in several ways: pan-fried, raw, cut into tiny pieces, and either frozen and swallowed or hidden in ground beef. No matter how I try, I can’t get myself to want to eat it.
To make matters worse, I can’t find good-quality organs anywhere. While I can find relatively inexpensive organic beef, all the locally available beef organs are from questionable sources.
I had tried out a freeze-dried liver product for a while, but I felt like the product I bought was lacking other organs like kidney and heart. (It never occurred to me that I could also be lacking feminine organs!)
I saw that Shelby, the founder of Primal Queen, had tried a lot of the same things I had: lots of diets like paleo, low-carb, probiotics, plant-based, etc. without much success. She started with a lot of similar issues: low energy level, brain fog, inability to lose weight, etc. Her health journey inspired me to want to give it a try.
I figured “why not?”
And, yes, they even have a 365-day 100% money-back guarantee!
What did I hope to improve?
Overall, I’m feeling pretty healthy these days. My skin has improved on a carnivore diet and I haven’t been getting as many UTIs, but some things continue to bother me. I guess we all have areas that we want to improve.
Energy and concentration
While I had been feeling a bit better again lately, I was also having cycles of pretty bad days when I just couldn’t concentrate. (I attribute them to oxalate dumping.) Every time I was going to come back and write on my blog, I felt apathetic, tired, or just unable to concentrate.
You’ll notice that I hadn’t been posting in months! Actually, my last post, before my recent post about how to sew a backpack, was almost a year ago!
Weight loss
Another thing that has continued to bother me is that I started my carnivore diet journey at 146 pounds and lost weight at first (to around 138). All seemed great until I broke out into a major rash in my first major oxalate dumping experience. After that, I started gaining weight and have been fluctuating around 150 for over a year now.
Just as I start to lose some weight, I’m hit with what I think is another oxalate dumping cycle and I get ravenously hungry. Even though I don’t eat sugar or processed foods on those days, I find myself constantly hungry and reaching for less optimal carnivore-friendly snacks like pork rinds rather than just meat. (On a good week, I won’t touch those at all.) So, just as I find myself losing weight again, I start to gain…down to 148…up to 153…down to 149…up to 152…and the cycle continues.
Better skin health
My skin is so much better than it was during the summer of 2022 when I had chronic patches of eczema on my feet and often broke out into acne. There are days that my skin is completely clear. Again, though, there are oxalate dumping days when my urine gets cloudy, my eyes get red and scratchy, and I start to see a few itchy bumps on my feet again.
Hair and nails
While I used to get compliments on how full my hair was, lately, I don’t feel like it’s been anything special. It isn’t especially thin or bad in any way. It just doesn’t seem as thick and strong as I’d like it to be.
What does really bother me, though, is that I have never been able to grow my nails out at all! Even in my early teens, I had issues with soft, peeling, breaking nails. No matter what I have tried, I haven’t gotten my nails to be strong enough to grow past the ends of my fingers, at least not all at once. (Collagen never helped, and I stopped taking that after I realized it was another product that could aggravate oxalate problems.)
I find that if I do have a time when they are slightly harder and growing out, during the days before my period, they get weak and either peel or break again.
My cycle
Even though I turn 50 this month, I have a pretty regular cycle that I have been tracking for years. It got shorter when I first started a carnivore-type diet, and is now back to around 28–29 days with ovulation around day 11.
While I’m not great at filling in all the circles every day (and often forget to document what I track), I do make a note of all of that! I don’t have any signs of menopause nearing any time soon.
I’m generally happy with my cycle, so I don’t expect to see much of a change. I do occasionally have lower energy days, mild menstrual cramps, or cramping before my cycle, though, so we’ll see.
Future Improvements
As I continue to test this product, I’ll keep you updated on how things are going. I just bought another 3 months worth, so after a few months, I hope to be able to provide more information about how I feel.
How to take it?
Primal Queen comes in 60 capsules meant to be taken twice daily, optimally with lunch and dinner.
What’s unique about the product is that it comes with a heart that is scented with peppermint oil. This keeps the supplement smelling fresh and makes you want to take it that much more. (In the end, the capsules don’t really have any flavor! Thank goodness they don’t smell or taste like liver!)
Has it helped me?
Surprisingly, I’d have to already say yes!
Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t made major progress on any of my goals yet. Keep in mind, I’m not even a full month into taking the product…
On the other hand, I have noticed some major changes in the last 2 weeks!
Energy and concentration
The most noticeable change is that I’ve been blogging again! While you may not see it yet as I’ve done so much work in the background, I have several posts researched, written, and almost ready to go! I even just posted my first post in almost in year!
In the last months, I kept saying “This is the week I’ll start back again”, only to sit down at the computer overwhelmed and eventually doing other things. A combination of apathy, exhaustion, and brain fog kept me from being productive.
Last week, I actually started writing!
I didn’t just start writing, I felt inspired to do it again. I haven’t felt that way in a long while!
So, yes, I feel like I have improved energy, mental clarity, and vitality. I bought myself a new foldable treadmill for the living room and feel inspired to use it! Overall, I’ve had higher energy and just been in a better mood. I feel more motivated not just to work, but also to do more physical activities.
Weight loss
Another thing I noticed is that last week, I just wasn’t as hungry.
Lately, I’ve felt hungry all the time. It makes it impossible for me to lose weight. I started the week at 153 and saw 150 by the weekend. When I was hungry, snacks like pork rinds didn’t appeal to me; clean meat did.
To be fair, I’ve been cycling back and forth for a while, so it may just be a good phase in my weight cycling. My improved energy and inspiration, though, have me feeling more positive and hopeful that this could finally be what I needed. (I’ve read that minerals and micronutrients can make a huge difference in hunger cues!)
Skin, hair, and nails
While my hair and nails haven’t changed yet, my eczema on my feet has cleared up again. I was having a pretty bad oxalate dumping cycle when I started; both of my feet had been covered in lots of bumps. (It was worse than it had been in a long time!)
Both feet are now completely clear of any rashes or redness. I will say, though, that I have also been using Epsom salt feet soaks; something I hadn’t done much in the past. Another change, that could affect things, I added a spoonful of peanut butter to my diet (to add back some oxalate) on the days when my skin was at its worst.
Interestingly, my face broke out in acne soon after starting. I had several whitehead-type pimples coming to the surface of my skin. They have since gone away and my skin is looking pretty good! Perhaps my body was clearing out some impurities? Who knows? I’m hoping it will get even better with time.
My video review
Do I plan to stick with it?
Absolutely!
I’ve already ordered 3 more months’ worth! (My new order just arrived as I was writing this post!)
I normally don’t feel much of a difference with any sort of new supplement, so I was very surprised to notice anything at all. Perhaps my newfound energy and concentration are just coincidental. Either way, I was happy enough to want to order more and see!
How to order
Whether you buy a one-month supply or subscribe to monthly shipments, Primal Queen will send you a glass jar with a bamboo lid for keeping your capsules. They also give you a free pink on-the-go pill case, so you can take your capsules with you when you go out to eat!
Mine also came with a gift of a Primal Queen bracelet.
If you subscribe to them monthly, you can save yourself some money, and you don’t have to worry about ordering them each month. Use my coupon code THINGSWELLMAKE for 10% off!
International shipping
Because I live in Spain, can’t get the benefits of free shipping offered to those in the USA, and have to possibly worry about customs, I asked if they could provide any sort of way to minimize my shipments and still get a discount over buying just one month’s worth.
They allowed me to order a 3-month supply at a discounted price to minimize dealing with customs and recurrent shipping fees. (If that’s also a concern for you, let them know. I bet they would help you out!)
I didn’t have any issues receiving either of my packages, even though Spanish customs has been increasingly harsh over the last year.
In the past, I could order from the US without issues. (They would only stop some of the larger packages or those marked as being over 100 Euros) Lately, though, they will even stop small gifts that my family sends me (marked as gifts) with a declared value of $5-10. I generally have to pay more in customs than what the product is worth.
As you can imagine, I’m now weary of ordering from the US. That said, Primal Queen did everything right and pre-paid all the necessary (astonomical) Spanish taxes so that I didn’t have to deal with any problems in customs (which always incur extra fees).

October 11, 2024 Update
Several people told me in comments on YouTube that they were hoping for an update. So, I decided to make a new video and update this post.
By this point, I should have finished 3 months’ worth of the supplement, but I’m a bit behind because I got lazy while on my cruise and have occasionally forgotten to take one of the pills on certain days. That said, I’ve taken it as I should most of the time.
How do I feel?
I’ve continued to have more energy, and have continued to post more on the blog. For me, that is a huge win after being unable to focus and post for so long.
My issues with brain fog and fatigue were what affected me most from day to day. Having more energy and focus is already a win, even if I never see improvements in the other issues I hoped to change.
Have I noticed any new changes?
Sort of…
Let me explain.
A few weeks back I decided to start reverse dieting. When I first wrote this post, I said I wasn’t feeling as hungry. Rather than eat less, though, I decided to start eating more.
After analyzing my daily calorie intake, I realized that I might not be eating enough, so I decided to raise my calorie intake rather than decrease it. Since then, I’ve felt more energy. I have also been more active and have gotten on the treadmill (using my treadmill desk) much more lately. (I did have to stop for about a week and a half due to a pulled hamstring.)
So, no, I have not lost any weight. In fact, I’m probably up one or two pounds since I wrote this post. I’m not upset about it (yet!), though, as I have drastically increased my normal calorie intake. I’m hoping to increase my metabolism.
Ideally, I wouldn’t have made other changes, but I’m on a healing journey, and I need to do what I think is best for the best outcome.
With time, we shall see. I’ll try to keep you updated!
