Crispy on the outside, sweet and soft on the inside, these sweet, paleo baked apple fries are perfect for dipping in my pumpkin spice dip.
The other day I was telling you about my pumpkin spice dip and how I had made baked apple fries to accompany it. The story about how I came up with the idea for the apple fries, along with the recipe, was originally part of my pumpkin spice dip post. Unfortunately, I was having problems with certain things that I needed to do with the post when more than one recipe was included.
Lesson learned: the internet doesn’t like more than one recipe card on the same post.
I decided to separate them, and finish off the post in this second part. I’m sorry if I confused you, and I’ll try not to let that sort of thing happen again!
I was easting apples that day, and had made pumpkin fries (recipe coming soon!) earlier on, which, I guess, gave me the idea to try to make apple fries.
Of course, I thought I was a genius, but after a bit of internet searching I realized that I hadn’t invented apple fries at all. In fact, it seems that they are even on the menu at Burger King! (I guess not knowing that shows how much I frequent there.) 😉
I decided to keep mine grain free, and overall I think they were pretty darn good. I haven’t had the ones at Burger King, though, so I can’t compare or even pretend to know if they are even similar.
If I have to be completely honest, I’m not a huge fan of baked apple desserts like apple pies or dumplings (I know, I know- crazy, right?), but I still liked them. I actually prefer eating the pumpkin spice dip with raw, crunchy apples, though, but I’m weird that way. My son, who has more of a sweet tooth, disagrees. He much preferred the baked apple fries to the raw apple slices, so I knew I needed to include the recipe for those of you who do appreciate a good baked apple treat. 🙂
