Instructions
Measure around the shoe. Pull the fleece around the shoe to find where the fabric meets at the center front and back. Mark these points to guide the width of your pattern.
Draw the boot shape. Lay the shoe on its side on the fleece. Draw around it, allowing enough fabric to reach your marked center points, then extend the shaft upward to your desired height. Leave a little extra length at the bottom to help prevent the cover from riding up.
Cut the pieces. Cut out the shape and use it as a pattern for three more pieces. You need two pieces per boot cover. If the fleece has a right and wrong side, cut mirrored pairs.
Sew the seams. Place two pieces together with the right sides facing inward. Sew along the front and back edges, leaving the top and bottom open. Repeat for the second cover.
Turn and fit. Turn the covers right side out and slip them over your shoes. Check the fit while walking and adjust as needed.
Notes
Polar fleece stretches and doesn't fray, so there's no need to hem the openings. The covers should fit fairly snugly over the shoes. If your fleece has a right and wrong side, cut two mirrored pairs. Sew each pair with the right sides facing inward. The boot covers have open bottoms and slip over regular shoes, leaving the soles uncovered.Leave a little extra length at the bottom to help prevent the covers from riding up when walking.No-sew option: Use hot glue instead of stitching the front and back seams. Let the glue cool completely before turning the covers right side out.
