Extremely bitter, this bitters recipe is meant to help in the fight against parasites, but can also be used to help stimulate better digestion. Makes around 2 cups (Approximately 9,000 drops)
Add all of the herbs and spices to a glass jar and cover with the alcohol. Mix together well.
Leave the jar in a cool, dry area, shaking occasionally to help better infuse the herbs and spices into the alcohol.
Set aside the jar for at least 2 weeks, 4 is better.
Strain the herbs and spices from the alcohol by passing the mixture through a sieve. Smaller particles can be strained out with a cloth.
Store in a glass bottle or jar, out of the light.
Notes
Take 15 drops alone or in water before meals 3 times per day. This treatment can be taken for up to 3 weeks. As a preventative measure, 1-2 tsp. of the tincture can be taken once per week. I came up with this idea of a tincture to try to rid myself of a heavy pinworm infestation, but I couldn't find the black walnut hulls so I had to make this recipe without them. In full disclosure: While it did help to greatly reduce the number of pinworms I saw, and I actually didn't see any for awhile, I wasn't able to completely rid myself of the pinworms with this preparation. Perhaps if I had been able to add the black walnut hulls, meant to be one of the main 3 anti-parasitic ingredients, my tincture would have been more effective. (I also must admit that I often forgot to take the tincture, or just didn't want to stomach it, as it is very, very bitter.)
